Dubai, 15 October 2011: Pradeep Barboza, is making waves in Dubai and around Gulf countries by presenting one after the other comedy plays and practically wakes up people from the afternoon nap and run for the best comedy dramas presented in Dubai theaters. He is the writer, director and actor and proves to be a name to be reckoned with great dramatists such as King of Comedy Francis Fernandes Cassia who too was present for the paly. Ootre Uzvadlen a comedy drama was staged successfully in Dubai with a full capacity audience in presence at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium which was presented by Konkan Yuva. His previous drama Sangon Mugdana was also successfully staged in Duabi and Mangalore as well and many more are expected from this young artist.
Though drama started almost an hour late, audience were tolerant enough to wait since it is Pradeep Barboza’s drama. Uttam Menezes, a well known emcee in U.A.E. and esp. in Dubai/Sharjah welcomed the audience. A few Bollywood dances from young children at the beginning, choreographed by Feat Beat dance group was able to set the stage for high voltage drama.
Konkan Yuva a organization of youth from coastal Karnataka under St.Mary’s Church, Dubai took the courage to host the drama Ootre Uzvadlen on their 7th year anniversary celebrations The drama set on a social backdrop with clean humor, delighted the people of UAE who were hungry for such dramas which we see in Tulu these days. A brief on achievements of Konkan Yova over the past two-three years was read out by Deepak Machado and with a PowerPoint presentation.
In a short stage program, businessman and philanthropist Ronald Colaco was the chief guest was invited to the dais and was felicitated while other guests included were Walter Nandalike, Dayan D’Souza Daiji-Dubai and ‘Comedy King’ fame senior artist Francis Fernandes Cascia accompanied the on the stage. The guests on the stage were felicitated along with sponsors by Konkan Yuva Team.
Chief Guest Ronald Colaco in his speech requested all the gathered to support the cause of Konkani and asked the audience to set aside a small portion of their income to contribute towards the organizations who work for the cause. He also announced Dhs.25,000 as his contribution to the development fund created by Konkan Yuva. Writer, Director of drama Ootre Uzvadlen, Pradeep Barboza was honored on the occasion and bestowed the title “Comedy Prince” by Konkan Yuva. Senior artist Francis Fernandes Cascia was also honored on the occasion for his contribution to Konkani theatre.
At 6.30 pm drama started on a beautifully set stage and went on till 9.15 pm. The drama was set on a powerful plot on family affairs while the main character tries his best to maintain the family with whatever means he has but one of the close relative tries to tarnish his image by playing foul and causes almost break-up of the family. The Contracts Pradeep Barboza plays an advisory roll and asks the members to wake up from the tragedy. Full capacity crowd were glued to their seats till the end while the characters like Alex maam (played by Sunil), contractor Pradeep and Deepak D’silva were able to catch the attention with their dialogue delivery and great acting skills. All in all it was a well organized show which was enjoyed by all. The stage setting and back drops were superb.
