Mangalore, 21 March 2010: Chams Agnelo Quadros, son of Mr. Charles and Mrs. Matilda Quadros of Moodubelle was conferred with the Fudar Prathistan Pratibha Puraskar on behalf of the Canara Konkan Community for academic excellence for the year 2008-09 by Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore at a colourful function held at 10 am at the Milagres Jubilee Hall, Hampankatte, Mangalore on Sunday, 21st March 2010. Chams Agnelo Quadros had secured highest marks in Second PUC Commerce examination held in 2009 among the Catholic students of the Udupi Varado.
The Fudar Prathistan Pratibha Pruraskar was conferred on 141 Catholic students of the Mangalore Diocese who had excelled in academics in various faculties right from the SSLC to Post Graduate level. Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius D’Souza honoured the meritorious students by presenting them with a certificate or merit and flower bouquet. Besides the Bishop, the other dignitaries present on the dais included the President of the Fudar Prathistan-Mr. John D’Silva, Vice President and Convenor-Fr. Walter D’Mello, Secretary-Mr. L.J. Fernandes, Resource Person-Dr. Thomas Quadros, Managing Director of Glowin Star Academy, Udupi, Mr. Joachim Michael Pinto-President of the Central Committee of the Catholic Sabha, Mangalore and Mrs. Philomena Lobo-Deputy Director of Public Instruction, Mangalore.
Born on 10th July 1991, Chams Agnelo Quadros was a brilliant student right from his school days. He had his higher primary education in the Church Aided Higher Primary School and high school studies in St. Lawrence High School, Moodubelle. He secured 94 per cent marks in the SSLC examination and topped the merit list of St. Lawrence High School in 2007. As he was keen to have mathematics as one of the subjects for his PUC commerce course, Chams had to shift to the Poorna Prajna College, Udupi where he passed the Second PUC examination with 89.3 per cent and became top scorer among the Catholic students of the Udupi Varado thus being considered for the Fudar Prathistan Pratibha Puraskar.
Right from childhood Chams had manifested his talents for signing, essay writing and most of all extempore speech. He did participate in Pratibha Karanji Competitions while in high school and won second prize at the taluka level competition. Chams also had a penchant for acting and did verities of roles in English skits and plays while in high school.
Chams had also manifested leadership qualities while studying in PUC. He was the Vice President of the Young Christian Students (YCS) while studying in the First PUC and later became its President while in the Second year of PUC. Presently, Chams Agnelo Quadros is pursuing BCom studies in the Poorna Prajna College, Udupi. He has cleared the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) and attends classes that would help him in appearing for the Chartered Accountant course.
Chams Agnelo’s younger brother Clive John Quadros who studies in 7th standard is also a talented young boy and wants to follow the foot steps of his elder brother in acquiring proficiency in education and other fields as well.
