Moodubelle, 17 September 2011: On the second day of the three day Birth Centenary Celebrations of the world renowned painter from Kattingeri, KK Hebbar, painting competition was held in St. Lawrence Composite PU College on Saturday, September 17, 2011. The inaugural function was presided over by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle.
The painting completion was formally inaugurated by K. Lakshminarayan Bhat, a distinguished painter. Mrs. Rekha Hebbar, daughter of KK Hebbar was also present during this occasion. Other distinguished guests included: Devdas Hebbar-President of the Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza-member of the udupi Zilla Panchayat, Mrs. Jacinta Aranaha-President of Belle Grama Panchayat, Heranje Krishna Bhat-Director of Rashtrakavi Govind Pai Research Centre, Udupi, Shivarudrappa-Deputy Director of Kannada and Cultural Department of Karnataka, Fr. Paul Sequeira-Principal of St. Lawrence Composite College, Radhakrishna Upadhyaya, old student and a painter, Mrs. Shilpa Nayak-President of Parents-Teachers Association and AK Alva-Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council.
In her address to the students and guests, Mrs. Rekha Hebbar said that she is very proud of being the daughter of KK Hebbar who was born a century ago in Kattingeri and not only made a name for himself but placed Kattingeri, his native village in the map of the world. In his presidential speech, Fr. Joswey Fernandes said that KK Hebbar achieved greatness in the art of painting because of his dedication and hard work. He made an appeal to the students to take the example of KK Hebbar and achieve success in whatever field they choose by sincerity and dedication.
Painting competition for the students was held in three categories: for the primary section, for the high school students and the PUC students. A large number of students participated in the competition.
The Programme was compeered by Mrs.Shymala, Fr.Paul Sequiera Welcomed the guests and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs.Sunitha Kamath.
