Mumbai ( RBI ), June 18: The Karnataka Border Region Development Authority is working hard to preserve and develop Kannada in Kasaragod. It is constantly responding to the feelings of Kannadigas. It has been organizing pro-Kannada programs in various parts of the district. The Karnataka Chief Minister will soon inaugurate the Dr. Kayyara Kinnannarai Kannada Bhavan in Badiyadka, said the authority’s chairman Somanna Bevinamarada.

He presided over the 110th birth anniversary celebration and award ceremony of Nadoja Dr. Kayyar Kinhanna Rai held at the Kayyar Jodukallu Friends Club Hall on Wednesday in collaboration with the Karnataka Border Area Development Authority, Gadi Nad Sahitya and Cultural Academy, Kasaragod, Kalkura Foundation, Mangalore, Green Star Arts and Sports Club, Kayyar 16th Ward, Kayyar Kutumbhu Sri units.

There is a fear that the works of Kayyar, who fought for the merger of Kasaragod throughout his life, will disappear. If his family, Kavita Kutir and fan club cooperate, the authority will proceed with the re-publication of all Kayyar’s works. After becoming the chairman of the authority, I have come to Kasaragod 9 times and understand the feelings of the people here. The Kannadigas here also feel that we are in Karnataka. Authority member Subbayakatte is bringing every problem here to the attention of the authority. Efforts are being made to inform the high-level officials about the burning problems here, including the neglect of Kannada. Private land has been purchased in Goa to build a Kannada Bhavan. The authority has made efforts to provide all kinds of facilities in Karnataka even to children who have studied in other states, he said.

When the Kannada land of Kasaragod was annexed by Kerala, poet Kayyar Kinhanna Raigal had called on Kannadigas, saying, "The house is on fire, come quickly." He recalled that he had mentioned this line of Kayyar in the Legislative Assembly session when the Kerala government neglected Kasaragod in all areas, including health, culture, etc.
