Mangalore: On May 16, 2025, the Infant Mary Convent in Jeppu celebrated the Platinum Jubilee of the Canonisation of Saints Bartholomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa, founders of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity. The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rt. Rev. Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha, who emphasized the importance of the saints’ legacy in the lives of the sisters and the community.

 

The sermon was delivered by Bishop Francis Serrao, Bishop of Shimoga, who highlighted the selfless service and dedication of the sisters to their mission. He spoke about the profound impact that Saints Bartholomea and Vincenza have had on countless lives through their commitment to education and healthcare.

 

Following the Mass, Sr. Irene Menezes, Provincial Superior of the Mangalore Province, warmly welcomed the gathering, which included sisters along with their parents and siblings. The atmosphere was filled with joy and gratitude as attendees reflected on the contributions of the sisters to society.

 

The event was further enriched by a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Sr. Prescilla Menezes, who expressed appreciation for all who contributed to making the celebration memorable. The program was skilfully compered by Sr. Vineetha Rodrigues, ensuring a smooth flow of events throughout the day.
