Thottam, April 17, 2025 – The Maundy Thursday liturgy was observed with deep devotion and reverence at St. Anne Church, Thottam, marking the beginning of the Easter Triduum.
The solemn Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr. Alwyn Sequeira, editor of Uzawad Weekly, who was the main celebrant. In his sermon, Fr. Alwyn highlighted the importance of sacrifice and the Christian call to be servants for the welfare of others, drawing inspiration from Christ’s actions during the Last Supper. His powerful message invited the faithful to live a life rooted in love, humility, and service to the community.
In a symbolic reenactment of Jesus’ humility, Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa washed the feet of twelve parish representatives, signifying the call to serve one another selflessly.
After the Holy Mass, Fr. Denis D’Sa led the congregation in Sacramental Adoration, inviting the faithful to reflect on the mystery of Christ’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. The solemn adoration concluded the evening with moments of silence, prayer, and spiritual intimacy.
The celebration was marked by active participation, meaningful liturgical hymns, and a strong sense of community, setting the tone for the sacred days of Good Friday and Easter.
