Mumbai (RBI), Apr. 16: The women’s wing of Karnataka Vishwakarma Association, one of the oldest organizations in Mumbai, celebrated its 30th anniversary last Sunday (A. 13) at the Sangha’s auditorium "Priya" Sri Vishwakarma Bhavan in Mira Road. The function, which was presided over by the Sangha’s President Ravish G. Acharya, was graced by the guests of honour. The function was inaugurated by the Executive President of the Women’s Wing of Sri Kalikamba Vishwakarma Seva Sangha, Panvel, Lakshmi Janardhana Acharya. Speaking later, she expressed her feeling that today is a happy time for all of us because women are involved in all fields and, with the support of their families, are joining hands in all the work of the Sangha and are standing as the backbone of the Sangha.
Ravish G. Acharya spoke and said that it is a matter of great joy that our women have completed 30 years of their lives by fulfilling their responsibilities at home and taking care of their children, and that they have organized for the Sangh, and that they have organized a great program. The Sangh is grateful to them and the gentlemen who have supported them. He also congratulated everyone that the Sangh is on the way to celebrating its 80th anniversary and that more women should work together and join hands for the success of the program.
Vice President Veena Shivanand Acharya was present on the stage, and on this occasion, Shubha Sunil Acharya, Kalpana Chandrakant Acharya, Manjula Ramachandra Acharya, Chandrakala Sridhar Acharya and Yogini Raghava Acharya, who have rendered great service in strengthening the women’s wing, were felicitated in the presence of distinguished guests. Senior member Rupa Prabhashankar Acharya was felicitated with special honors.
On this occasion, to recognize the young talents of the society, Kumari Shreya Ganesh Acharya, who represented the state level in sports, and lawyer Meenakshi Acharya, who received the Economic Times Annual Award, were honored. Kalpana Acharya and Shubha Sunil Acharya, who received the award, shared their impressions.
On this occasion, former presidents of the association, M. A. Acharya, Nitte Damodar Acharya, Gopalakrishna T. Acharya and immediate past president Kalyanpur Sadananda Acharya were honored by the women’s wing.
As part of the cultural programs, the children of the members and the workers of the youth and women’s wing presented various dance performances. The women’s wing members performed a humorous short farce titled "Sarkar Sikkal Kiri Kiri Makkal" directed by Mumbai’s renowned playwright and humorist Shri Ashok Kumar Kodiyadaka.
Senior members of the association were women, and members of the executive committee were children.
The women’s division members offered prayers. The women’s division working president, Mrs. Sujata Gopal Acharya, gave an introductory speech and gave a complete explanation about the path taken by the women’s division and the work done in collaboration with the youth division and welcomed everyone. The women’s division coordinators, Rajeshwari Satish Acharya and Amita Dharmaja Acharya, jointly compered the program. Coordinator Amita Dharmaja Acharya proposed the vote of thanks.
