Mangalore: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy organized a Konkani Poetry Recitation Session on 7 March 20225 as part of the International Women’s Day celebration at the Academy Auditorium.
Academy President Joachim Stany Alvares presided over the programme and welcomed all the dignitaries attending the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais.
On this occasion, Dr. Grace Noronha, an eminent educationist was honoured. In response, Dr. Grace Noronha said that she was happy with the honour and her responsibility in the field of education has increased. She conveyed her gratitude to the Karnataka Sahitya Academy for the honour.
Speaking on this occasion, Mrs. Suchitra Nayak, actress and proprietor of ‘Ratnas Wine-gate’ who was the chief guest said that International Women’s Day should not be a matter of celebration on one day but women should celebrate every day as women’s day with joy and happiness. With justice women’s power and their identity should be recognized by the society.
The Resource Person of the day, Dr. Judy Pinto, former lecturer and Vice Principal of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore narrated the history of the celebration of the International Women’s Day and condition of women in the past and in the present.
The poetry recitation session was presided over by Dr. Annie Dimple Castelino. Ms. Vitasha Riya Rodrigues, Sr. Sylvia Soares(AC), Mrs. Chandrika Malya, Mrs. Felcy Lobo, Mrs. Pratima Clara Prabhu, Mrs. Flavia Albuquerque, Mrs. S. Jayshree Shenoy, Mrs. Asumpta D’Souza, Dr. Flavia Vastelino, Mrs. Lydia D’Costa, Mrs. Juliet Fernandes, Mrs. Lavi Ganjimata recited their poems.
Mrs. Sapna May Crasta, member of the Academy and convener of the programme proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Melira Rodrigues compered the programme. Members of the Academy-Ronald Crasta, Navin Lobo, Samarth Bhat, Dayaanad Madkekar, Academy Registrar Rajesh G. were present for the programme.
