Mumbai, (RBI) Mar. 06: Jaya A. Shetty Shimanthur, a kabaddi athlete, Chhatrapati Shivaji Award winner, international kabaddi referee, and secretary of South Canara Sports Club and Karnataka Sporting Association, has been elected as the new president of the Bunts Arbitration Board, which was established 25 years ago with the aim of providing justice to the Bunts of Mumbai and its suburbs.
The election was held at the annual general meeting of the Bunts Tribunal held at the Annex Hall of the Bunts Association, Kurla East on February 22. Jaya A. Shetty, who has been newly elected as the president, was congratulated by the president of the tribunal, Advocate Prakash L. Shetty Kadandale, who presented a bouquet of flowers.
Jaya A. Shetty, a retired officer of Bank of Maharashtra, has been actively involved in many Kannada organizations as the former secretary of the Buntara Sangha Mumbai, the former secretary of the Higher Education Committee, and the former secretary of the Mathrubhumi Cooperative Society. Under his guidance, various sports events of the city’s various organizations have been successful. His full cooperation is the main reason for the success of the sports events organized by the Buntara Sangha every year. He has been the main guide for the international level kabaddi tournament held twice in the rural area of ??Karkala. Apart from having experience in playing kabaddi in major states of the country, he has also worked as a referee.
He has been able to provide justice to the players on the sports field, and has been honored by the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka in recognition of his sportsmanship. Jaya Shetty’s family is a team of kabaddi players. His wife is a national kabaddi player and his son is also a national kabaddi player. Both of them have been honored by the Maharashtra government with the Chhatrapati Shivaji Award.
