Mumbai, (RBI) Jan. 11: The swearing-in ceremony of the new committee of the Non-Resident Indian Committee Karnataka Bahrain and the Karnataka Sangama cultural program were held at The Indian Club Hall, Bahrain.
Karnataka Government’s Kannada and Culture Department Minister Shivaraj Thangadigi inaugurated the Padagrahana and Karnataka Sangama cultural program. Raj Kumar took charge as the new president of the Non-Resident Indian Committee Karnataka Bahrain, Vijaya Naik Varkadi as vice-president, Roshan Lewis as general secretary, Vitla Jamaluddin as secretary, Mangesh Desai as treasurer, Ganesh Manila as cultural secretary, Abdul Jawad Pasha as public relations secretary, and Sujay Pinto as a member.
Dr. H.S. Shetty, President of Mysore Merchant Company, Bangalore, participated as the chief guest and spoke and said that the government itself is converting government and aided Kannada schools into English medium schools. As a result, in the next thirty years, it will be difficult to find people who can speak Kannada, but not people who can write Kannada.
