Udupi/M’Belle, 26 Dec: In a vibrant celebration of the Christmas spirit, ICYM Moodubelle and St. Lawrence Church orchestrated a memorable tableau across three locations in Moodubelle on Christmas Day. The event, which drew large crowds throughout the evening, featured performances, carol singing, and community gatherings at Thirlapalke, Nalkubeedi, and Moodubelle. This remarkable event saw huge participation from members of different faiths, reflecting the unity and harmony that is the true essence of the festive season. The aim was to spread the message of love, peace, and togetherness, and the overwhelming response highlighted the community’s shared values and mutual respect.
The celebrations began at Thirlapalke at 4:15 PM, where Mr. Mark Preema Dsouza and family sponsored refreshments for the attendees. The tableau then moved to Nalkubeedi at 4:45 PM, where Sunshine Caterers’ Mr. Sandeep Shetty provided refreshments for the gathering. The grand finale took place outside St. Lawrence Church near Karnataka Bank at 6:30 PM, with refreshments sponsored by the St. Lawrence Catholic Sabha.
Mr. Maxim D’sa served as the Master of Ceremonies, while Father Lester Lobo SJ delivered an inspiring message about the significance of Christmas, emphasizing its universal appeal as a celebration of love and goodwill. The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Rikson Monterio, CA Pritish Burton D’sa, Fr. Edwin (OFM Cap), and Ms. Viana Maria Fernandes, President of ICYM Moodubelle.
A highlight of the evening was the performance by the Kids Choir of St. Lawrence Church, trained by Ms. Rosly Carol Quadros, who enchanted the audience with Christmas carols. The event organizers, Mr. Nevil, Mr. Valerian, and Mrs. Elveera, worked alongside choreographers Mrs. Jasmine and Mrs. Savita to create a memorable experience. Children were particularly delighted by a special appearance from Santa Claus, who distributed treats throughout the evening.
The success of the tableau was made possible through the collaborative efforts of multiple organizations, including ICYM Moodubelle, YCS Moodubelle, Catholic Sabha, and St. Lawrence parishioners. At each location, sponsors were honored with flower bouquets and mementos in recognition of their contributions.
Beyond celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, the event symbolized the unity of people from various religions and backgrounds coming together in a shared spirit of joy and fellowship. The tableau not only highlighted the cultural and spiritual richness of the season but also reinforced the message that harmony and understanding are at the heart of every community. As the evening concluded, participants left with cherished memories of a Christmas celebration that truly embodied the spirit of the season and stood as a shining example of unity in diversity.
