Udupi, 25 Dec: The Christmas celebration at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur, was a grand and spiritually uplifting event. The evening began with an enchanting session of carol singing from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM, led by Jovita Fernandes and her cohesive choir team. Their melodious and harmonious rendition of carols infused the atmosphere with joy and reverence, perfectly setting the tone for the night.
The church, adorned with stunning lighting, Christmas decorations, stars, and a beautifully crafted crib, was a sight to behold. The grandeur of the decorations created a serene and festive ambiance, enhancing the spiritual experience for everyone present.
The Eucharistic Celebration was the highlight of the evening, led by Rev. Fr. Preetam, Provincial of Holy Cross Fathers Minor Seminary, Katpadi, as the main celebrant. He was joined by the Parish Priest, Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza, and Assistant Vicar, Rev. Fr. Oliver Nazareth. The church overflowed with devotees, an unusually large and enthusiastic congregation gathered to celebrate the joyous occasion.
The homily, centered on the theme of spiritual introspection and responsibility, was particularly moving. Rev. Fr. Preetam reflected on three profound questions from the Book of Genesis: “Where are you?” to Adam, “Where is your brother?” and “What have you done?” to Cain. He skillfully related these questions to modern life, urging the faithful to evaluate their relationships with God, family, neighbors, and nature. The message emphasized the need to carry Christ in our lives and be exemplary in love, helpfulness, and concern for others.
After the Eucharistic Celebration, Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza conveyed his heartfelt Christmas greetings and extended gratitude to all who contributed to making the event a resounding success. The parishioners, filled with the Christmas spirit, exchanged greetings warmly after the Holy Mass, adding a personal touch to the celebrations.
The festivities continued with cake distribution, followed by lively activities organized by the ICYM and YCS groups. A thrilling Housie game brought excitement, and Santa Claus delighted the children and adults with his cheerful antics. Various other games were also conducted, keeping the joyous momentum alive.
The seamless blend of spiritual depth, festive decorations, musical brilliance, and community togetherness made the celebration truly memorable. Mount Rosary Church once again exemplified the true essence of Christmas—faith, love, and joy.
