Lions Club Moodubelle Celebrates Christmas along with inauguration of Roof-top Hall

Udupi/M’Belle, 21 Dec: The Lions Club, Moodubelle celebrated Christmas along with the inauguration of the Roof-top mini hall on Saturday, 21 December 2024. The programme of the day commenced with the inauguration of the Lions International Sign Board at the junction connecting the Lions Seva Bhavan with the Moodubelle-Padubelle Road. The Sign Board was inaugurated by Ln. Rajeev Kotian-Second Vice District Governor (VDG) and Rev. Fr. George D’Souza-Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle along with Ln. Ivan Menezes-President of the Lions Club, Moodubelle, Ln. Devadas Hebbar-Secretary, Ln. Rajendra Shetty-Treasurer and other Lions members.

 

Next, the renovated and Air-conditioned Lions Club office was inaugurated by Second VDG Ln. Rajeev Kotian and Rev. Fr. George D’Souza.

 

The Roof-top hall was inaugurated by Commodore Jerome Castelino-the Charter President of the Lions Club, Moodubelle and one of the chief donors of the project. He inaugurated the facility, first by unveiling the plaque and later by cutting the ribbon tied across the door. Thereafter, Rev. Fr. George D’Souza conducted a brief prayer service and blessed the hall with holy water. The dignitaries officially inaugurated the Roof-top Hall by lighting the florally decorated lamp.

 

As part of the Christmas celebration, Rev. Fr. George D’Souza inaugurated the little Crib in the premises of the Lions Seva Bhavan and having the variety of Christmas ‘Kuswaar’ along with guests and members of the Lions Club. Meanwhile, the Leo choir members presented Christmas Carols in Konkani, English, Kannada and Hindi languages. The grand entry of Santa Claus, cutting of the Christmas cake by the dignitaries on the dais and bursting of fire-crackers enhanced the spirit of Christmas. 

 

In his Christmas Message, Ln. Rev. Fr. George D’Souza said that Jesus Christ, the Divine became human so that He could lift the humans to Divinity. He further said that Jesus preached love, peace and truth. Where there is love there is peace and harmony. The festival of Christmas is the festival of love and made an appeal to all to live a life of love. Peace, truth and harmony. 

As part of the Charter Nite, three of the Charter members-Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino, Ln. Devadas Hebbar and Ln. Cyril D’Souza were honoured by Ln. Ivan Menezes by offering flowers. Later, Ln. Rajeev Kotian and Ln. Rev. Fr. George D’Souza garlanded the Charter. 

 

Following his introduction by Ln. Devadas Hebbar, Second VDG, Ln. Rajeev Kotian said that he was happy to be a part of the Christmas Celebration of the Lions Club, Moodubelle. He appreciated the various service activities that have been conducted by the Lions Club and said that the Lions Club, Moodubelle has one of the best buildings in the entire Lions District 317C.  He also inducted Ln. Vincent Gregory Fernandes as a new member of the Lions Club, Moodubelle. 

 

On this occasion, the donors of the new Roof-top Hall wee felicitated by President Ln. Ivan Menezes as Treasurer Ln. Rajendra Shetty read the names of the donors. 

 

Responding to the felicitation, Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino in his address narrated the circumstances that led to the initiation of the work of the Roof-top Hall and appreciated fully the dedicated and hard work that was put in by Ln. Ivan Menezes and his team  in creating such a beautiful and fully equipped Roof-top hall which can cater to the needs of people who wish to have smaller  functions. 

 

In their felicitation address, Ln. Hariprasad Rai-LCIF Chairman 317C District,  Ln. Melwyn Aranha-Region Chairman of Region III and Ln. Pramila Lasrado-Zone Chairman of Zone III appreciated the various activities of the Lions Club, Moodubelle. Ln. Hrishikesh Hegde-former Region Chairman was present. 

 

Ln. Ivan Menezes welcomed the gathering, Ln. Devadas Hebbar proposed the vote of thanks, Mrs. Juliana Pereira read the Flag Salutation and Ln. Nevil D’Souza compered the programme.
