Udupi: A Parents and Teachers Meeting was held at SVVN English Medium High School, Heradi Barkur, on Saturday, 30th November 2024, at 2:30 PM in the open air Meeting area. The meeting aimed to foster effective collaboration between parents and educators for the holistic development of the students.
The event began with a soulful prayer hymn sung by Mrs Aparna, followed by warm and cordial welcome extended by the senior teacher Mrs Sujatha Rai.
In her keynote address Headmistress of SVVN, Mrs. Likhita Kotary, emphasized the importance of regular interactions between parents and teachers to monitor and enhance the academic progress and well-being of the students. She also highlighted the progress done by the School - additions to both infra structure and learning facilities during the first Semester. While thanking the Mgmt especially the Correspondent she requested the parents to cooperate and encourage in making best use of additional tuition hours, sports and cultural activities which are conducted in the Campus, for the benefit of their wards.
A special session was held for the parents, addressed by Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary of BES. Being a versatile teacher and HM, he stressed the importance of consistent preparation and continuous learning to achieve academic success, particularly in the upcoming board examinations as well as lower classes with interest and dedication. He explained the need for a little sacrifice from parents to give time for children at home, as the all-round growth of children is a collective responsibility of pupil, parent and teachers… ‘Let us work together to ensure that every child realizes their full potential. After all, education is not just about securing grades but about instilling values, critical thinking, and a lifelong love for learning’. Mr Shetty observed.
Most attractive part of the session was an insightful talk by the resource person in Mrs Savita Yermal, a well known trainer serving in Govt PU College in Brahmmavar. Earlier Mrs Suveda introduced the resource person to the audience.
The highlights of the talk:
‘As parents and teachers, we are united by a shared goal: the holistic development and well-being of our children. Together, we hold the responsibility to shape their future, not just academically but also emotionally and socially’.
She continued, “Today, I would like to emphasize the significance of collaboration between parents and educators. A strong partnership fosters a nurturing environment where students can thrive. Open communication, mutual respect, and understanding are the pillars of this relationship”. ‘I encourage all of you, as parents, to stay actively involved in your child’s educational journey. Attend meetings like this, discuss their progress with teachers, and participate in school activities. Your involvement reinforces the value of education in their lives and boosts their confidence’.
To the teachers, Mrs Savitha informed, ‘as a woman I commend your tireless efforts in guiding and inspiring the students. Your role extends beyond imparting knowledge—it is about building character, fostering curiosity, and shaping future citizens’.
Mr. P. Archibald Furtado, Administration Coordinator of the National Group of Educational Institutions, also graced the occasion, in his short message lauded the SVVN School’s excellent teaching and best learning environment and appraised the parents to make best use of them in their own interest and carry home the tips shared by Mr Ashok Kumar Shetty and Mrs Savitha Yermal.
During the interaction with parents CRP Barkur cluster, Mrs Lalita shared her feelings and concerns and assured all support and cooperation both for the welfare of SVVN and its students.
The Correspondent, Mr. Rajaram Shetty, presided over the programme, highlighted the visible developments on the campus, including the recent painting of the school buildings and the creation of play facilities for kindergarten children. These improvements were aimed at providing a more vibrant and conducive learning environment. “It is indeed a pleasure and privilege to be here with you today at this important PTA meeting. As parents and teachers, we are united by a shared goal: the holistic development and well-being of our children. Together, we hold the responsibility to shape their future, not just academically but also emotionally and socially.
President of Parent Teachers Association Mr Jayaram Acharya, former President Mr Raj Gopal Nambiar too were present on this occasion.
To conclude the well attended PTA Meeting Mrs Amruta Shetty proposed vote of thanks whereas the well set programme beautifully presented by Mrs Sujatha Shetty and Mrs Nagrathna Hebbar.
The meeting served as a platform for fruitful discussions and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to providing quality education and nurturing overall student development.
