Udupi: Milagres College Kallianpur, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), POSH Cell, Women Cell, and Youth Red Cross, organized a comprehensive awareness program on the Lokayukta Act, Prevention of Corruption Act, and Cyber Crimes on November 28, 2024. The program aimed to educate students about the importance of these laws and their implications in everyday life.
The event commenced with a keynote address by Dr. Vincent Alva, Principal of Milagres College, who emphasized the significance of understanding the basics of the Lokayukta Act. He also cited examples of cybercrimes, highlighting the need for awareness and vigilance in the digital age.
The resource person for the day, Mr. Manjunath, Police Inspector, Karnataka Lokayukta, Udupi, delivered an informative and engaging presentation. He provided an overview of the Lokayukta department, its governing officers, and their designations. Mr. Manjunath also explained the process of filing complaints against government officials accused of corruption, empowering students with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities as citizens of India.
Furthermore, Mr. Manjunath shared valuable insights on cybercrimes, including real-life cases, and offered tips on how to stay safe online. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations, highlighting the consequences of reckless driving.
The program was attended by several dignitaries, including Mrs. Shylet Mathias, IQAC Coordinator; Mrs. Radhika Patkar, Convenor of POSH Cell and Women Cell; Mrs. Clara Menezes, Convenor of Youth Red Cross; Mr. Ganesh Nayak, NSS Officer; and Mr. Ravinandan Bhat, PRO. The event was a resounding success, and the students benefited greatly from the informative sessions and interactive discussions.
