Udupi: Much awaited Sports Day was held in National PU College on Friday, 29th November 2024.
The Annual Athletic Meet of National PU College, Barkur, was conducted with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The event began with Principal Kottraswami extending a warm and cordial welcome to the guests, participants, and attendees.
The stage program was presided over by the President of the Barkur Educational Society (BES), Mr. B. Shantharama Shetty. In his inspiring message, he urged students to actively participate in sports and cultivate the habit of dedicating at least one hour daily to physical activity, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
The President of the NJC Old Students Association, Mr. S. Karunakar Shetty, honoured the occasion by taking the salute during the march-past. The parade, led by the college band, NCC cadets, and various sports teams, was a highlight of the day, showcasing discipline and teamwork.
The Vice President of BES, Mr. S. Vitthal Shetty, hoisted the flag, marking the formal commencement of the athletic meet. The BES Secretary, Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, graced the occasion with his presence, while the team of Physical Education Directors, Mr. Umesh Shetty, along with Mr.A H Gowda, ensured the ground, track, and other facilities were professionally arranged.
The program proceedings were skilfully compeered by senior teacher Mrs. Jyoti Shetty, who kept the event engaging and well-organized.
Among others, Correspondent of the NPUC Mr Gopala Naik, Secretary Old Students Association Mr Balakrishna Hegde, Correspondent of Heradi Primary School Mr Ratnakar Shetty, Mr P. Archibald Furtado, Administrator, National Group of Educational Institutions, Barkur, PTA representative Mr Nambiar, HM of both Hanehalli Primary School Mr Udaya Shetty and Heradi RSM National Primary Mr Ratnakar Shetty graced the occasion.
Day long sports both in track and field’s were held for both High School and PU Section, which recorded highest participation by the encouragement of all teaching and non teaching staff extending their best cooperation in the ground and galleries’.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Hemavathy P.S., Headmistress of the High School section, expressed her gratitude to all attendees and extended her best wishes to the participating athletes.
The Annual Athletic Meet was a resounding success, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to fostering sportsmanship, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle among its students.
