Udupi, 09 sept 2011: Ramanatha Pradip, the President of the Corporation Bank paid a visit to the bank’s Heritage Museum at Udupi on Thursday, 8 September 2011.
The Corporation Bank was started in 1906 by Khan Bahadur Haji Abdulla, the then one of the rich persons of Udupi with the initial capital of only Rs.5000/- which has grown to the tune of 2,00,000 crore business turn over. The first branch of the bank has been converted into a museum which houses not only coins and currency but the revolutionary history of the bank itself.
Ramanatha Pradip viewed the exhibits in the museum. Presently, coins and stamp collectionsof two of the bank officers-Radhakrishna Kumble and Krishnayya are on exhibition. Ramanatha Pradip said that the exhibits in the museum are not sufficient to tell the history of the bank.
More and more people should come forward to donate books and other artefacts that would enhance the historical value of the bank. There are books in the museum related t banking sector that would help the common people to understand the banking system better.
