Udupi, 23 Nov: Udupi: Literature helps us to increase our level of intellectual thinking and knowledge. In today’s computer age, there is a need to develop a taste for literature among the youth, said Rev. Fr.Denis D’Sa of Thottam St. Anne’s Church. He was speaking at the inauguration of the Gramaloka Sahitya Gosthi organized under the joint auspices of Sahitya Akademi New Delhi and Social Communication Instrument Aayog Thottam at Thottam Vidyadayini Hall on Saturday.
Continuing further, Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa said that through the Grama Lok Sahitya Sanghtha, the literati at the village level will get an opportunity to showcase their talent. This will help them keep their literary taste alive along with increasing their knowledge. Modern generation needs new ideas. You don’t have to write great works to be a writer. He said that it is also a good opportunity to provide a platform for their talents through story, poetry and comedy.
Kendra Sahitya Akademi New Delhi’s Konkani Section Advisory Committee Member, poet Melvin Rodrigues gave an introductory speech and explained about Sahitya Akademi programs. He said that Gramaloka program will be organized to give opportunity to local level literary talents.
Clarence Fernandes, Nanu Marol, Konkani writer and critic, presided over Gramaloka.
Writers like Sannu Monis, Katherin Rodrigues, Gnandev Mallya, Donat D’Almeida, Kishore Gonsalves popularized their literature in Gramaloka.
Sunil Fernandes, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council of Thottam Church was present in the program.
Raymond Fernandes, convener of the Social Media Commission Thottam, thanked the Central Sahitya Akademi Konkani Advisory Committee member. H. M Pernal moderated the program.
