Udupi: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Milagres College Kallianpur successfully organized a blood donation camp in association with Rotary Club Kallianpur on November 14, 2024. The inaugural program commenced at the Audio Visual Hall, where esteemed guests addressed the gathering. Dr. Shamme Shastry, Director of the Blood Centre at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, spoke about the eligibility criteria for donors, health, and blood-related problems.
Rotarian Baptist Dias, President of Rotary Club Kallianpur, graced the occasion as the chief guest, acknowledging the organizers’ efforts. Suresh Suvarna from Lions Club, Subasnagar, emphasized the importance of the blood camp and thanked the principal for organizing the event. Mrs. Reshma Belman, Member of Abhayahastha Charitable Trust, Udupi, shared personal anecdotes highlighting the significance of blood donation.
Dr. Vincent Alva, Principal of the college, encouraged students and NSS volunteers to donate blood, proudly sharing his own experience of donating blood 57 times over the years. The program was attended by distinguished guests, including Mr. Nagaraj Kundar, President of Gram Panchayat, Kallianpur, and Mr. Ragavendra Rao from HDFC Bank, Udupi.
The event was anchored by Mr. Ganesh Poojary, a second-year (link unavailable) student, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Raksha, a second-year BCA student. The blood donation camp successfully collected 53 units of blood, making it a memorable and impactful event.
