Udupi, 28 Sept: Addressing the Inter-faith friendship meet held in St. Anne’s Church Hall, Thottam organized by Jamaat-e-Islami-Hind’s Malpe unit on the occasion of the Prophet’s message campaign on Friday, 27 September 2024, Rev.Denis D’Sa, Parish Priest of St. Anne’s Church, Thottam and PRO of Udupi Diocese said that when one learns the scriptures of another religion and gets to know its principles and teachings, respect and love for its people will arise.
Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa further said "All religions of the world teach humanity, harmonious life. The messages of kindness, forgiveness, justice and equality preached by Prophet Muhammad are still relevant today. Man does not live on an island, but in a community. So everyone needs a community, a shared life. Each of us is like a brick in the wall. A wall is formed by the arrangement of one brick at a time. Many challenges can be won if we stand together. He said that truth, trust and tolerance have disappeared in today’s society and everyone should join hands to save it".
Speaking on behalf of Hinduism, Tottam Samanwaya Sarva Dharma Samiti’s chairman, Ramesh Thingalaya said that it has been the culture and tradition that our forefathers inculcated in us that we should live together. Today, due to the influence of social media, mutual distrust has arisen. He said that due to this, the society is filled with polluted atmosphere and when all religions come together, the message of coexistence will be spread.
President of Jamaate Islami Hind Mangalore, Janab Isak Puttur who presided over the programme said that every scripture has given the message of acting without hurting others and accordingly by doing good deeds in the society, work should be done to strengthen mutual friendships.
Leslie Aroza, Secretary of the Coordination Interfaith Committee, Rev. Edwin Soans, Pastor of Malpe CSI Church, Ganesh Nergi, President of Ambedkar Yuva Sena were present.
Malpe Abubakar Jamia Masjid Imam Maulana Imranullah Khan Mansoori welcomed with introductory remarks. Jamaat Islami Hind Malpe President Janab B Siraj Ahmed proposed vote of thanks. G. Shuaib Malpe anchored the programme.
