Shirva, 06 September 2011: When the teachers have patience, they can tap the inner potentials of the students. If the teachers understand the present circumstances under which the students grow and impart knowledge and education, they can get desired results in creating a new society in which a conflict less society can be created irrespective of differences in class, language, religion and culture, said Fr. Leslie D’Souza, Parish Priest of St. John the Evangelist Church, Shankerpura while speaking at the Teachers Day celebration under the auspices of the Rotary Club of Shirva in the Saud Hall, Shirva on Monday, September 5, 2011.
During this occasion, those teachers who have retired this year were honoured. These teachers include: Phelomena Corda of Don Bosco Higher Primary School, Shirva, K. Sadashiv Shirva of Popmpei PU College, Aikala, Ishwar Joshi of Hindu PU College, Shirva and Xavier Mendonca of Ayyanna Higher Primary School, Padakalatthuru.
Dr. K.R. Venkatakrishna, Founder Secretary f the Rotary Club of Shirva felicitated the teachers by presenting them mementos. Assistant Governor-K.R. Patkar released the Rootary Club magazine named “Mallika”.
The Teachers Day function was presided over by Ronald Sequeira-President of the Rotary Club of Shirva, Punalika Marathe offered prayers. Lucas D’Souza compeered the programme.
The programme was attended by Y. Bhaskara Shetty-principal of Shirva MSRS College, Ganapati Bhat of Hindu PU College, Shirva and Dr. NS Shetty. Secretary of the Rotary Club, Leo Noronha proposed the vote of thanks.
