Udupi, 04 Sept 2011: Dr. V.S. Acharya, Minister in Charge of the Udupi District paid tribute to Swarna River on Sunday, September 4, 2011 for providing water for the daily needs of Udupi city as well as for the agricultural needs of the neighbouring villages. He offered prayers and floral tribute along with his wife.
The programme that was organized at the bathing ghat of Shimbra Ganapati temple at Perampalli near Manipal was attended by Raghupati Bhat-MLA of Udupi, Kota Srinivas Pujari-MLC, Katapadi Shankara Pujari-Prsident of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Devdas Hebbar-President of the Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Kiran Kumar-Presidnet of Munipal Council, Bharati Chandrashekhar-Vice President, Ramesh Nayak, Devendra Prabhu and Mohan Upadhyaya-memebrs of the Municpal Council, Dr. T.M. Reju-District Officer, Prabhakar Sharma-CEO, Zilla Panchayat, Gokuladas Nayak-Municpal Commissioner and others. Social worker Vasudva Bhat and Harikrishna Shivathaya compeered the programme.
Speaking during this programe, Dr. Acharya said that very soon he will try to get the amount required for the improvement of the bathing ghat. In the same way he promised that he will try to send a proposal for bridges at Permapalli, Kolalagiri and Aroor-Beliyaru. Besides, Dr. Acharya said that the inauguration of the District officer’s office complex at Manipoal which has been postponed many times would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda in the next month.
