Catholic Women Council – Shirva Celebrates Women’s Day

Shirva, 11 March 2010: The catholic Women Council celebrated the International Women’s Day on Sunday, 7th March 2010 at the Don Bosco Hall, Shirva. Rev. Fr. Richard Coelho inaugurated the programme and conveyed the message of the need for united progress among women in the Shirva unit. The Chief Guest of the programme, Mrs. Ida Cornelio- Head Mistress of St.John’s Academy-Pangala emphasised on the role of Catholic women in modern times

The programme was attended by Our Lady of Health Parish Priest, Rev, Fr.Richard Coelho, Assistant priest-Fr. Fredrick Monterio,Vice president of the Parish Council-Mr. Norbert Machado, Secretary-Mr. Melwyn Aranha, Udupi Zilla Panchayat President-Mrs. Gladys D’Almeida,C.W.S Shirva Deanery President-Mrs. Maria Jacinta Mathias, Sr. Superior-Sr. Hilda and Sr. Sylvia who were on the dais.

The Unit President Mrs. Jacinta D’Souza welcomed the gathering, Secretary-Mrs. Mary Machado proposed the vote of thanks, Varado Representative – Mrs. Neeta Castelino compeered the entire programme. The other members who were present for the programme included M.C. Unit members, Parish Ward Gurkars, Catholic Sabha members, donors and well wishers. The cultural programme following the stage programme was conducted by Mrs. Anitha Saldhana. At the end of the programme lunch was served to all those who participated in the programme.
