Amcho Padryab, ‘Servant of God Fr Alfred Roche’, OFM Cap. Memorial is ready for inauguration at his

Udupi, 24 May 2024: On Saturday, 25th May, 2024, the proud ward members Moodahadu Kudru where Fr Alfred took his birth as the fifth and the youngest child of late devout Isaac Roche and Carmine Monthiro, about a century ago, on 3rd April, 1924, joined with parishioners of Barkur and well-wishers to come forward to perpetuate the memories of their son of soil, most loved priest, now on his way to Sainthood, by constructing an attractive Memorial which will be opened for public, to visit, pray and pay respects.

 

The simple event comprise of Holy Mass at 10.30 am in the St Peter Church, Barkur where Fr Alfred was baptised in the blessed hands of then parish priest Msgr Denis Jerome DSouza. The High Mass will be celebrated by Vicar of Barkur Church Rev. Fr Ronald Miranda along with other concelebrants and capuchin priests.

 

 

On the same day, at 12.00 noon all are cordially invited to gather in Kudru Village to witness the inauguration ceremony and Blessing of the Memorial followed by fellowship meal.

 

Its learnt from the sources that the home town and birth site has been visited by many beneficiaries of Fr Roche over the years and the monument shrine soon to be developed as chapel to offer liturgical services and deservedly added up to be a pilgrimage destination in historical Barkur.
