Udupi/M’Belle, 24 Mar 2024: A seminar on Agricultural Practices was held in St. Lawrence Community Hall on Sunday, 24 March 2024 at 9.30 am. This seminar was jointly organized by the Catholic Sabha, Labour Commission and Social Welfare Commissions of St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle. Ramakrishna Sharma Bantakal-President of Udupi District Agriculturists Association and Kudhi Srinivas Bhat-Secretary of Udupi District Agriculturists Association were the Resource Persons. Fr. George D’Souza-parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Fr. Pradeep Cardoza-Assistant Parish Priest, Pritish D’Sa-Vice Presdient of the PPC, Charles Quadros-Secretary, Mrs. Gracy Rebello-Convener of 21 Commissions, Mrs. Ancilla D’Souza-President of the Catholic Sabha, Lawrence Alva-Coordinator of the labour Commission and Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza-Convener of the Social Welfare Commission were present.
Following the welcome address by Mrs. Ancilla D’Souza, Fr. George D’Souza in his benedictory message said that God has blessed mankind with huge natural resources and it is the responsibility of the humans to preserve, protect and nurture these resources for the future generations.
On this occasion young Moodubelle parishioner John Avil D’Souza who has successfully completed Diploma in Agricultural Extension for Input Dealers was honoured by the dignitaries.
Lawrence Alva and Valerian Noronha respectively introduced the Resource Persons Ramakrishna Sharma and Kudhi Srinivas Bhat.
Both the Resource Persons explained the right agricultural practices to maximize agricultural output. They gave useful tips about the cultivation of jasmine plants, coconut and areca-nut crops, banana and paddy. They stressed upon scientific practices such as proper use of manure, water and pesticides. The instructions of both Resource Persons were well received by the audience.
Mrs. Justine Mendonca proposed the vote of thanks and Charles Quadros compered the programme.
