Lions Governor Ln. Dr. Nery Cornelio pays official visit to Lions Club, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 23 Feb 2024: Ln. Dr. Nery Cornelio, Governor of Lions District 317C paid official visit to the Lions Club, Moodubelle on Thursday, 22 February 2022. He along with his wife Ln. Ophelia Cornelio were received by Ln. Joseph Martis-President of Lions Club, Moodubelle, Ln. Vaerian Noronha-Secretary, Ln. Rajendra Shetty-Treasurer and other members at the Nellikatte Bus Stand sponsored by the Lions Club, Moodubelle. Thereafter, proceeding to Thirlapalke Ln. Nery Cornelio inaugurated the renovated house of Mrs. Lilly D’Souza under the Lions International Project of ‘Home for Homeless’.

 

Following the Board of Directors Meeting, the stage programme commenced at 7.00pm. Ln. Joseph Martis presided over the programme. Other dignitaries on the dais included: Ln. Nery Cornelio, Ln. Ophelia Cornelio, Ln. Mohammad Haneef-First Vice District Governor, Ln. Swapna Suresh- Second Vice District Governor, Ln. Fr. George D’Souza-Parish priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, Ln. Raviraj Nayak-Cabinet Secretary, Ln. Ivan D’Almeida-Zone Chairman, Ln. Valerian Noronha-Secretary of Lions Club, Moodubelle, Ln. Rajendra Shetty-Treasurer, Mrs. Jacintha Martis, Wife of Ln. Joseph Martis and Leo Ethan Martis-President of Leo Club, Moodubelle.

 

Following the prayer by Leo members and preliminary Lions Club proceedings, Ln. Joseph martis welcomed the guests. Ln. Valerian Noronha presented the report of all activities of the Lions Club, Moodubelle during this Lionistic Year.

 

In his benedictory message, Ln. Fr. George D’Souza pointed out the service activities of the Lions Club, Moodubelle in the true spirit of helping the needy and marginalized. He prayed for God’s blessings on the programme and all  the Lion members. 

 

On this occasion four of the Belle Grama Panchayat servicepersons-Raju Panara, Dhanalakshmi, Vasantha and Sundara were honoured by the dignitaries on the dais. 

 

Five achievers of the village who had excelled in their respective fields were also felicitated  during the programme. Ln. Lawrence Alva for his achievement in agriculture; Glen Rebello a Drone expert, Ancita D’Souza for clearing the CA Examination Hanisha Maria Aranha for securing first place in the Karnataka State level Pratibha Kanranji elocution comoetition in Konkani and Arnika Varsha D’Souza for her achievement in tha national level sports.

 

 

Financial assistance was given to three families to meet medical expenses.

 

Mrs. Sushma Menezes introduced Governor Ln. Dr. Nery Cornelio.

 

In his address, Ln. Dr. Nery Cornelio expressed happiness at the various service activities conducted by the Lions Club, Moodubelle during this year especially the renovation of the Nellikatte Bus stand and the renovation of the house of Mrs. Lilly D’Souza. He appreciated  the leadership of  the PST-Ln. Joseph Martis, Ln. Valerian Noronha and Ln. Rajendra Shetty. Ln. Dr. Nery Cornelio narrated the origin and progress of the Lions Clubs International and also that of the Lions District 317C of which he is the present Governor.

 

Following the reading of the felicitation of the Governor by Ln. Lavina Barboza, Ln. Dr. Nery Cornelio and Ln. Ophelia Cornelio were honoured by the dignitaries on the dais.

 

Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino, the Charter Presdient and President during the Silver Jubilee Year 2022-23 was awarded with the certificate of appreciation issued by the Lions Club International.

 

First VDG Ln. Mohammad Haneef, Second VDG Ln. Swapna Sureha, Cabinet Secretary Ln. Raviraj Nayak, Zone Chairman Ln. Ivan D’Almeida and Second VDG candidates for next year Ln. Hariprasad Rai and Ln. Rajeev Kotian gave their respective messages. 

 

Mrs. Divya Acharya-President of the Belle Grama Panchayat and Sashidhar Wagle Vice President were present.

 

The vote of thanks was proposed by Ln. Rajendra Shetty and the programme was compered by Ln. Devadas Hebbar and Ln. Wilson D’Souza.
