Udupi/Kallianpur, 02 Dec 2023: Students and other Achievers in academic, sports and social fields were felicitated as the - Alumni Association of Milagres College’ held its Annual General body Meeting.
As observed by many outsiders, the 57 years old Milagres College, Kallianpur is counted among few such reputed Institutions which have the one vibrant Ex Students Association.
A vibrant association registered under the Act, had around 310 registered and life members, held its AGM on Saturday, 2nd December, 2023, in the Audio-visual Auditorium, at 3.00 pm. The Correspondent of Milagrean Educational Institutions and the Rector of the Cathedral V. Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca presided over the proceedings.
Ms Melvita DSouza and Mrs Amritha Lewis gave the start with invoking Almighty’s blessings and President Shekar Gujjarbettu extended a warm and homely welcome to all gathered.
Prof Sophia Dias, the Gen Secretary of the Association presented the crispy report of the previous year highlighting the activities both academic, Cultural, sports etc with the help of generous contributions from its members, especially above Rs 18 Lakhs worth of donations towards various developmental works and scholarships.
Treasurer Joachim DSouza placed before the members the Audited Accounts of the Association and got it approved.
On this glorious occasion, Dr Surekha Bhat, who was conferred PH. D. for her Doctoral thesis, President of Kallianpur Grama Panchayat, rank Holder Monica Mendonca, University, State, National and International sportsmen women in Keerthana, Monisha were honoured by draping traditional shawl, basket of fruits, garland and memento etc by the guests on the stage.
PRO of the Association Mr Ravinandan, who compeered the whole event meticulously. IQAC Coordinator Dr Jayaram Shettigar smoothly conducted the election of the office bearers under the leadership of Mr Shekar Gujjarbettu, as president, which unanimously endorsed a third term in succession to the existing team which has recorded a praise worthy job in the previous consecutive two years.
Principal Dr Vincent Alva expressed his heartfelt thanks and happiness to see the care and concern of Milagreans and love for their Alma Mater. He quoted The NAAC Peer Team observation ‘It’s very rare and astonishing to see the involvement, contribution and goodwill of past students at this level….’ and that weighed the significant role in favour of Milagres College awarding A+ Grade, he acknowledged.
V. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, in his presidential address, congratulated the re-elected team of Shekar Gujjarbettu and expressed his satisfaction to observe various activities conducted during the last two years and wished them all success in their forthcoming terms. While referring Principal’s observations, the correspondent, thanked the Alumni Association for this spectacular achievement and NAAC recognition, A+ reaccreditation at its 4th Cycle, one of the highest awarded to a College located at rural location. While thanking the NAAC authorities, he cautioned and reminded of greater responsibilities to live up to this standard and reputation and sought the major stake holders the ex-students, continued cooperation in coming years too…. He specially took the occasion to congratulate all special achievers in various fields.
Mr Shekar Gujjarbettu expressed his feelings and thanked the Management, Principal and all members present for keeping their trust in choosing him and team for a record third term and solicitude the support and cooperation from all and assured his best efforts to keep the Milagres flag flying high and its goodwill intact.
Mrs Joyce Lewis, newly chosen Vice President, proposed vote of thanks to all who made this annual event a grand success with their gracious presence, participation and involvement.
All were served with snacks and tea as the Meeting was officially concluded at 4.15 pm.
