Udupi: Gun Firing at Jewelry Showroom in the city

Udupi, 20 August 2011: Gun firing has taken place in a Jewelry showroom in the city on Friday evening. Police have suspected that this could be the act of underworld for Haptha. This incident has taken place in Airody Jewelers in Airody Building located in Sanskrit College Road. Friday evening at 7.30 pm two unknown youths came on a bike and did this act. Both of them wore face masks, one of them got down from the bike, went inside the shop and from the pistol he shot 3 rounds and escaped.

 

 

One bullet was shot to the wall inside the shop; another bullet was shot to the floor and while coming out to scare the watchman who tried to stop, another bullet was fired to the adjacent compound wall. But they did not speak a word, only fired shots and escaped on the bike. There are possibilities that this could be a threatening tactics of the underworld.

 

The Jewelry showroom owned by Giridar Pai was inaugurated recently few months ago in his own building. Having good business in this Jewelry shop, while this incident took place the owner and some customers were present. Giridar Pai has said that he never received any calls for Haptha before. Circle Inspector Girish, Ganesh Hegde of District Crime Investigation Department and others arrived to the spot and conducted inspection. No confirmed clues are found so far.
