Udupi, 29 Sep 2023: Interestingly as a precursor to the all-important ‘BES General body Meeting’, the crucial ‘NJC Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Committee’ meeting was held, at 2.30 pm, under the dynamic leadership of its Chairman Mr Rajaram Shetty, to review the various projects it has undertaken to commemorate the historical landmark.
Distribution of Souvenir – ‘Amrutha Sinchana’ a monumental work of 175+ colourful pages to showcase the early inception and formation years, colourful records of medieval ages and of course the present state of affairs – how the seeds sown in pre-independent era in 1945, grown to be a banyan tree, which educated thousands during past 75 wonderful years, in this historical Barkur, was another significant part of this meeting.
Chairman of the Souvenir Committee Mr Jayaram Shetty, gave crispy narrative of the whole process of compilation and collection and sincerely admitted short-comings tend to be there… He also extended thanks to all who contributed in different ways – articles, reports, photographs, donations, advertisements and so on and so forth, in their journey to prepare it in its present form.
In his emotionally woven address, President of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Team, Mr Rajaram Shetty had all praises and appreciated the end product ‘the ‘Amrutha Sinchana’ deservedly a monumental document which has the unique qualities to preserve for generations to come. The Chairman and Editorial Team lived up, far above to our expectations’, he concluded..!!
Secretary of NJC-PJCC – Mr Manjunath Bhat earlier welcomed the gathering and expressed his views especially what is next..? How we can we address the two issues – quality of education and constant declining student strength…?.He also profusely thanked all and sundry, as the Souvenir is in members hands now to relish and cherish.
Editor-in-Chief, Dr Jagdeesh Shetty, Hon. Editor Prin. U Kottraswamy, & Editor in Charge – Prof P. Archibald Furtado, Members of the Editorial Board were present and specially thanked for their best efforts on this occasion.
AGM - Barkur Educational Society (Regd) 1946
With a resounding success tag on its back, with grand celebration of Platinum Jubilee in January 2023, the BES Members far and near joined together to participate in the AGM in the ‘College Kala Mandira’ on Thursday, 3.30 pm, 28th September, 2023.
President of the BES Trust, Mr B Shantarama Shetty presided over the deliberations which started with a silent prayer followed by a cordial welcome to all who gathered. He broadly outlined the importance and sequence of transactions to be discussed in this meeting.
As per the set agenda, Secretary of the BEC and former Principal, Mr B Seetarama Shetty, presented the crispy Annual Report to the audience, which highlighted the impressive academic performances of all the five educational institutions under its administration. He acknowledged with thanks and gratitude - the sacrificial role of respective heads / Principals, Correspondents, Teaching and non teaching staff as well as parents and students, for making the previous year a success story.
All Heads of five institutions presented their report card and list of requirements before the members and were assured of due attention in the course of time.
Mr Rajaram Shetty, the Chairman of Platinum Jubilee celebrations, had special reference to National PU College, the mother institution, which had a record of imparting value based, quality education for over 75 great years and recalled the role of BES, Old students, only with their support the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Committee as cohesive team, left no stone unturned to provide excellent infra-structure facilities in place, nothing less compared to a grade one institution in the State.
Treasurer Mr A. Krishna Hebbar presented the elaborate Statement of Account with Audited Income & Expenditure and Balance Sheet for the period ended 01-04-2022 to 31-03-23, which was duly approved by the house.
About 20 new Life members were introduced and welcomed to the BES family to add fresh energies and strength and to live up-to its reputation as truly national in both letter and spirit.
In the changed circumstances and to face the challenges, the house elected a ‘New Administrative Council’, especially the elders and experienced, who toiled tirelessly in the past, paving way for young blood to boost the appeal, energies and reach of the Trust.
Accordingly, the following were elected as President – Mr B Shantarama Shetty, Vice Presidents, Mr Shedikudlu Vittal Shetty & Former Principal Mr B Seetharama Shetty, General Secretary Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Mr A. Krishna Hebbar as Treasurer, Mr Shankar Shetty as Joint Secretary.
Mr Rajarama Shetty the new correspondent for SVVEMS (Vidyesha Vidyamanya National English Medium High School), Heradi, Mr S. Karunakar Shetty as the Correspondent of Heradi Kannada Medium – SRSMNHPS, whereas Mr Gopala Naik – National PU College, Mr B Ramachandra Kamath, ITI Heradi and Mr B Sreenivasa Shettigar were persuaded to continue as Correspondents for one more term.
Further a strong Executive Council too was formed giving required representations to old students, all communities and experts in educational fields.
Auditors for the forth-coming year M/s P M Hegde & Company, Mangalore, also were re-appointed.
