Independence Day Celebration in Pamboor

Holy Cross Church Pamboor

Unfurling of the Indian National Flag was held  in front of the church after the mass. Rev.Fr.Charles Lewis , parish priest was the president of the function and Mr. Fedrick Menezes Vice President of Parish Council was the chief guest.

 

Brian Noronha president of ICYM welcomed the gathering. Fr.Charles Lewis unfurl the flag, after the flag  hoisting Shiny Menezes Spoke on the Importance of Independence day . Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and many more patriots gave their life for bringing freedom to our country. Corruption is of the major issue that is affecting people from every section of the society. So we have to support Anna Hazare  who is at the age of 73 is fighting against the corruption on our behalf.

 

 

After this Fr.Charles Lewis gave his message and Naveen Quadras, President of Catholic Sabha Proposed the vote of thanks. The Independence Day programme was organised by the ICYM and catholic sabha of Pamboor Unit.

 

Sweets were distributed at the end of the programme and Josil Noronha compeered the programme.There were about 250 people present for this programme.

 

Catholic Higher Primary School Shanthipura, Pamboor

 

The programme started at 9:30 am with the assembly. Rev. Fr Charles Lewis hoisted the flag. The school band played patriotic songs. Students and guests were served with sweets sponsored by  some eminent donors.. Then they moved into the school hall. The stage programme was arranged and. Rev.Fr.Charles Lewis was the president  of the function,Mr.Leo Noronha, secretary of Rotary club Shirva, Mr. & Mrs. Simon Precilla Machado were the Chief Guests ,President of PTA Mr. Ronald,  Presidents of ICYM, Catholic Sabha, Shree Sangatan,etc were also present on the dais. School Head master Mr. Herald D’mello welcomed the gathering.

 

 

A student spoke  few words on Importance of Independence day. Mr. Leo in his speech spoke about the cleanliness which we should do in our village…..Spitting on the road ,use of plastic etc…..Speaking to the students he said many Indians like Bhagat Singh  sacrificed themselves to the country  We can also become like them, we should read about their life and try to implement some things of them. President  of the function spoke a few words. Everyone wished Mr. Ronald Sequeira who is celebrating his Birthday. Chief guest  Mr.  Simon Machado distributed  shoes & socks to the children, Mr.Leo distributed the  uniforms, Presidents of ICYM, Catholic Sabha, Shree Sangatan, Franciscan Secular Ordination gave away the uniforms.

 

Fr. Charles Lewis thanked them all by giving flowers. Vote of thanks was proposed by Martin Mendonca teacher in the school. Sister Janet  compeered the programme. Towards the end there were various entertainment programme by school children.
