Moodubelle, 07 March 2010: Mr. Raghavendra Nayak, the top scorer in SSLC-1972 batch, recently visited his alma mater, St. Lawrence High Scholl and donated Rs. 25,000/- towards the Endowment Fund in Memory of his Favourite Principal Late Rev. Fr. VGF Rego. He fondly remembered the fact that while studying in the institution, when he was about to discontinue his studies after 8th standard, it was Fr. Rego who convinced him not to discontinue his studies and helped him till he finished his SSLC. As Mr. Raghavendra Nayak was a hardworking and studious student he was the topper in SSLC examination in 1972.
Later, Mr. Raghavendra Nayak went to Muscat and became a business man. Recently when he came down from Muscat for a
vacation, he visited St. Lawrence High School. He said that though he had the information about the Golden Jubilee celebrations of St. Lawrence High School, he could not come down to attend the same due to some unavoidable reason. However, he kept a track of the Golden Jubilee celebrations through the news papers and the media. Mr. Raghavendra Nayak expressed his happiness to visit this institution and remembered the good old days that he had spent as a student.
As a gratitude to the Institution where he studied and to Fr. Rego he donated Rs.25,000/- towards the Endowment Prize Fund in memory of Fr. Rego. In a brief program, the Principal of St. Lawrence Composite PU College thanked Mr. Raghavendra Nayak and offered him the memento as a mark of felicitatation for being the top scorer in SSLC examination among the students of 1972 batch.
Mr. Raghavendra also expressed his happiness over the opportunity that he got to visit his alma mater and show gratitude to one person-late Rev. Fr. VGF Rego who was instrumental in persuading him to continue his education and thus showing him the path of a bright future. Mr. Ragavendraa also promised that he would visit the institution in future too whenever he would come down to his native place.
