Belman, 06 August 2011: People of Udupi district have received world recognition that they are intelligent, alert, punctual and honest, it is because, from ancient time here good virtuous cultured education was given. To get recognition in all the fields, it is only possible through good education, said Karkala MLA H. Gopala Bhandary. He was speaking as the chief guest in a program held for the distribution of uniforms to the poor school children and also the Vanamahotsava at St. Joseph Aided Higher Primary School on Friday.
The distribution of the uniforms was organized by School Old Students Association of Belman St. Joseph Aided Higher Primary School and the Vanamahotsava was organized by Belman Lions Club and Lioness Club. Speaking further Gopal Bhandary said that the schools which have a century of history in educational achievement is well known to everyone, he said.
Speaking on the occasion Xavier D’Mello – President of Old Students Association and also the Taluk Panchayath Member, briefed about the achievement of the Association. The guests and dignitaries present on the dias were; Jilla Panchayath member Supreeth Shetty, Lioness President Gretta D’Souza, Lions Secretary Mukunda Kamath, Lions District Directory Chief Editor N.M. Hegde, Karkala Taluk Aided School Teachers Association President V.K. Rao Nandalike and the donors; Aloysius D’Souza, Jesintha D’Souza and others.
The program was presided over by School Correspondent Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza. Teacher Pundalika Marathe welcomed the guests and the gathering. Senior Teacher Sewrine Mondonsa read out the names of the students. Teacher Vincent Pinto compeered the program. School Headmistress Sr. Monica proposed vote of thanks.
