Kota, 31 July 2011: Kota Police S.I. Mahesh Prasad and Special Police team have arrested 4 thieves on 21st July who has been robbing shops and houses, but made the news public after 10 days upon investigation. With the arrest of this gang total 42 cases of robberies have been busted. The arrested thieves have been identified as; Ramesh Kumar (35) of H.D. Kote Mysore, Nithyananda Shetty (51) of Marathahalli Bangalore, Prasad R. (26) of R. T. Nagar Bangalore and Gangadhar (23) of Tarikere Chickmagalur.
Upon getting confirmed news that this gang is travelling from Chickmagalore to Kota in a stolen Ford car on 21st July, Kota Police Station team stopped them and arrested. While searched the car they found small gas cylinder, oxygen cylinder, gas cutting set, iron rods and hand gloves. When the investigation was conducted it was known that they were planning the robbery in Brahmavara, Kota, Kundapura areas.
The accused have conducted serial robberies in Uppunda, Saligrama of Udupi District, had a failure in robbing a Jewelry shop Jaddu of Brahmavara. They broke the rolling shutters of Sahyadri Medical Shop and other shops in Uppunda and robbed cash. Also it was found that they robbed wine shop, grocery shop, tailor shop in Kota and Shrinidhi Gas Agency and Srasti Jewelry shop in Saligrama.
Also they robbed houses and shops by breaking rolling shutters in Vivekananda colony of Jayanagar, Vinobanagar in Shivmoga, Hosasiddapura and town in Bhadravathi, Hosapete Road of Bellary, Kambi Halli near Tharikere of Chickmagalore, Vedavathinagar of Hiriyoor, Hiriyoor town, Thumkur town, Saraswathipuram, Chamrajnagar mohalla, T.K. Layout, Panchamantra road, Kuvempu road, Lingadabudi palya, Ootagalli and Vijayanagara Jayalxmipura of Mysore, Yelandur of Chamarajnagar district, R.T. Nagar, Hebbal, Dommaluru, Cholanaykanahalli, Nagenahalli, Rajarajeshvari nagara, Yalahanka new town of Bangalore.
Police took them into custody and conducted investigation and from them they have taken into possesion total Rs. 4,43,000 valuable gold jewelries, Rs. 53,000 valuable silver jewelries and a swift desire car worth Rs. 7,25,000 and a ford icon car purchased from the stolen money. It was found from the investigation that this gang had taken part in total 42 robbery cases.
Among them Ramesh is facing the charges of murdering his colleague in Ajjampura of Chickmagalur district. There are about 10 cases registered against him in Bangalore and he has been on the run without being present in the court. He was earlier released from jail in January.
Nityananda is popular in the robbery since 25 years, robbing houses in Bangalore, Mysore, Tumkur, Shivmoga, Krishnagiri, Hosur areas. He was in jail and was released in June. Originally he is from Puttur of South Kenara district, after finishing his college in Mysore he went to Bangalore and then got into the robbery field.
The other two accused Prasada and Gangadhara are facing charges of vehicle and house robberies in Kollegal and Bangalore. Earlier Prasad has come out of jail in October last year and Gangadar had come out of jail in February this year.
The accused were leaving Bangalore in car, get into Bar and drink, and at night they enter into any town and carry out serial robberies and the next day they rob another town and continue like this. All of them recently lived in a house at Kodi camp of Tarikere in Chickmagalur. From there they used to go in car and rob in surrounding places. These accused were spending the stolen money on luxurious living, on prostitutes, drinking and gambling.
