Mangaluru, 20 Oct 2022: Mangaluru, Oct 20: Dr Norbert Lobo (57), an associate professor and Head of the Department of Economics at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), passed away at a private hospital on Thursday 20 October 2022.
Being a popular teacher among the students, Dr Norbert Lobo had been teaching economics in St. Aloysius College for the last 27 years.
Dr. Norbert Lobo was elected as the president of the Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) and also as the vice-president of All India Federation of University and College Teachers Organization (AIFUCTO).
Originally hailing from Moodubelle in Udupi District, Dr Norbert Lobo has been teaching economics at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore since 1991. He had been the associate professor and Head, Department of Economics, visiting faculty to the PG department of economics and chief editor of Al-Shodhana: A Bi-Annual Multi Disciplinary Refereed Research Journal with ISSN Assignment, published by St Aloysius College (Autonomous).
Dr. Norbert Lobo is the author of the following books: Migration and Migrants, Rural-Urban Migration and Rural Unemployment in India, Indian Economy, Money and Public Finance, Indian Economy: Issues and Reforms; and edited the following books: Privatization of Commercial Banks: Present Position and Future Options, Indian Banking: Issues and Concerns, Karavali Karnatakada Arthavyavasthe: Hindinida Indinavarege, and Development of Coastal Karnataka: Possibilities and Problems.
Several of his research articles have been published in research journals of repute. He has also served as the editor of AMUCT Bulletin for over 5 years.
Dr. Norbert Lobo has been a well-known career counselor and trainer. He has conducted over 550 workshops and programmes for students and parents at different places and for various faculties, contributed over 50 articles, presented 23 radio programmes and served as a resource person in live programmes on radio and cable TV on career guidance and planning.
Funeral Service on Saturday, 22 October at 3:30pm at St Sebastin Church, Bendur. Public viewing from 2:00pm onwards in the Church premises.
