Udupi, Feb 27: ‘Theatre has a great impact on the people, while it’s a hit if it becomes the talk of the town. Theatre has a mass appeal beyond language that promotes communication skills. Besides, it also inspires one to learn the essence of life,’ said renowned theatre artiste I K Bolwar.
Bolwar was speaking during the valedictory ceremony of Parichaya Rangotsava-2022, weeklong theatre fest in 3 languages that was held at Holy Cross church grounds, Pamboor, near here recently.
It was organized by Parichaya – arts, literature and cultural Pratistan® to mark their decennial celebration.
He also expressed happiness over Parichaya that has been staging unique and distinct theatre and cultural events in the rural village of Pambool since the past 10 years.
Pamboor parish priest Fr Henry Mascarenhas also graced the occasion.
The Pratistan managing trustee Dr Vincent Alva presided the programme.
The Pratistan president Anil D’Sa delivered the preliminary address and welcomed the gathering.
The treasurer Ivan Peter Ignatius D’Souza honoured donors. The secretary Prakash Noronha proposed vote of thanks.
Edward Menezes honoured the head of the theatre group. Mable Menezes compered the programme.
After the stage programme, Sangama Kalavider, theatre troupe from Manipal, near here presented a Tulu play, Swara Danti Nalike.
The theatre troupes presented Kannada, Tulu and Konkani plays during the weeklong Rangotsava.
Kannada and culture department of Udupi district sponsored Kannada plays.
