Mangaluru, 07 Oct 2021: The installation ceremony of newly-elected office bearers of Mangaluru south block women Congress Committee was held at Congress Bhavan, Mallikatte, here on Thursday, October 6 evening.
Chandrakala Jogi was installed as president of Mangaluru south block women Congress Committee.
Namita D Rao who was the deputy mayor in the past and outgoing president handed over the charge to Chandrakala. Namita has been president for 9 years.
DK district Congress Committee president and Karnataka MLC Harish Kumar, AICC secretaries P V Mohan and Ivan D’Souza, district women Congress president Shalet Pinto, KPCC secretary Mamata Gatti, former corporator Appi, Ullal block Congress president Prakash D Salian Mangaluru south block Congress president Salim, Karnataka youth Congress vice president and others were present at the dais.
In his keynote address, Harish Kumar urged the women Congress members to be at the forefront in taking the struggle of inflation that is plaguing every household. The youth and women activists can effectively garner peoples support for a social cause, said Harish Kumar.
In his presidential address, Ivan said, ‘Two of Gandhi family laid down their lives for the country. Congress was built on trust and loyalty for over a century. It governed the nation effectively with due concern of poor and downtrodden. Secularism that was deep rooted in union administration always thrived that is now in grave danger, D’Souza said.
He called on the women members to make a difference in taking the struggle of common man, voice the injustice to women and poor. Otherwise, silence would be treated as consent and more oppressions likely to follow.
P V Mohan also addressed the gathering.
The party activists from all over the DK district and Mangaluru were present.
