Pamboor, 07 July 2011: Golden Girl Pramila Joyce Pinto returned back from Athens, Greece on Thursaday 07th July 2011. She reached Mangalore Airport in the morning and from there arrived Katpadi junction at 10.30 am in the morning and there in a grand ceremony the “Golden Girl” was welcomed by the Principal of Manasa, Presedent of Manasa, other dignitaries, Students of Manasa and People of Pamboor. From Katapadi she was taken in a grand procession, at Shakarapura B.C. Road they were joined by the Students of Shri Narayanaguru School, Students of Pamboor Church School, Teachers and Students of Manasa School.
It was a proud moment for Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre for Mentally Challenged Children, at Pamboor, Udupi. Because their student Pramila Joyce Pinto won 1 Gold and 2 Bronze medals in the recently held Special Olympics for specially-abled children at Athens, Greece. She has and made the Country, the State, the District and also her School proud. When the procession reached Manasa she was welcomed at Manasa by the students showering the flower petals on her, which was followed by the felicitation program.
The program was presided over by Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro – Parish Priest of Our lady of Health Church, Shirva. Chief Guests and other dignitaries present on the occasion were; Nithyananda Olakadu – President of Udupi Nagarika Samithi, Laxminarayana Upadyaya – District Roller Skating Coach, Shankar Poojary – Jilla Panchayath President, Devdas Hebbar - Taluk Panchayath President, Rev. Fr. Charls Louis – Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church Pamboor, Niranjan Bhatt – District Officer for the Physically Challenged, Golden Girl Pramila Pinto, Elroy Kiran Crasta - All India Catholic Union Karnataka State President, Naveen Amin, Ida Gibba D’souza - Jilla Panchayath Member, Remidiya D’Souza – President of Manasa, Jerald Pinto – Secretary of Manasa, and Sr. Thelma – Principal of Manasa.
Pramila Joyce Pinto is the eldest daughter of Robert and Philomena Pinto of Vamanjoor. Her sister is the 1st year Degree student of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. It is with the self confidence she reached to the success of life. She joined Manasa on 11th November 1998 and from that day until now she has participated in cultural activities and sports and applied the talents she had in her. In the National Coaching Camp held in Hyderabad from 14th to 19th September 2009 she participated in the roller skating and performed well in it.
In the two preparation camps from 12th to 18th June 2010 held at Pondicherry and from 24th to 30th October 2010 at Hyderabad she participated and got selected. In the 3rd preparation camp held in Haryana from 21st to 27th February 2011 she got trained by Physical Trainer Shaini M. C. Finally in the Special Olympics held in Athens she won 1 Gold and 2 Bronze medals.
In his presidential address Fr. Stany Tauro said that, we must not think that only normal children will have the talent. God can give the talent to anyone, only they need to be given opportunity and training to blossom their talents. We must thank God for giving us such golden children, he said.
When this reporter spoke to Pramila Pinto, she said that, she is very happy for winning these medals. She will dedicate these medals to her School, to her Parents and to her sister, she said. She wants to participate in more such competitions and bring more honour to the country, the state and to her loving school, by winning more medals, this is my aim, she said.
Pramila Pinto was felicitated by Shirva Catholic Sabha, Catholic Sabha Sahankarpura Unit, School Teachers and the dignitaries of the Village.
