Moodubelle: Members of St. John Baptist I ward celebrated ward feast

Moodubelle, 07 July 2011: St. Lawrence Church Parishioners of John Baptist I Ward celebrated their ward feast on Sunday 03rd July 2011 in the evening at 04.00 pm at the residence of John Pinto. Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira – Principal of St. Lawrence P. U. College, Alphonse Alva – Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Sisters from the Convent, Gladys Rebello – Gurkarn of neighbouring St. John Baptist II ward, joined the Gurkar and members of the ward in the celebration.

 

Sylvia D’Souza welcomed the guests and the gathering. The program began with the hymn “Jyothi Thuje Somya”. Chief Guest Fr. Paul Sequeira spoke on the occasion and said that, like St. John Baptist, we must face all the difficulties in our life. He also said that we must encourage the students who are backward in studies.

 

Alphonse Alva spoke and said that, this ward is lucky ward, because in the bible only three persons birthday has been mentioned; Jesus, Mary and St. John Baptist. He conveyed his best wishes to all the ward members.

 

 

As part of the entertainment, lucky games were conducted by Reena D’Souza. The winners were handed over fabulous prizes by Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira. Anny Pearl and Ignatius Fernandes who were celebrating their birthday on this day were wished singing birthday song.

 

Anup D’Souza who received highest marks in S.S.L.C. exams and talented Desman Alva who prepared stars and greeting cards were honoured with complimentary prizes. Newly married couple John and Deepa were felicitated. Also, 3 couples who were celebrating their wedding anniversary in the month of July were felicitated.

 

Theresa Lobo proposed vote of thanks. The program was compeered by Selvia D’Souza.
