Udupi, 26 June 2011: With the shifting of 32 government district-level offices to new DC office complex at Manipal End Point in Agust, all the district level offices will come under one roof.
District-in-Charge Minister Dr V S Acharya had informed that DC complex will be inaugurated on August 19. By August 19, all the files, computers and other materials from the present DC office at Bannanje will be shifted.
Along with the DC office, revenue office, treasury, health, social welfare, labour, minorities, women and child welfare department, library, Kannada and Culture department, Information department which were functioning in Udupi will be shifted to Manipal, which is six kilometres away from Udupi.
With the shifting of all the district-level offices, Udupi town will have only taluk-level offices. The public will have to go to Manipal End point to get their work done in the DC Office after August 19.
Present DC office
The district administration does not have plans for the utilisation of the present DC office building. However, sources said that district training centre in Mangalore is likley to be shifted to the present Deputy Commissioner’s office in Udupi. However, there are also plans to shift Taluk office to the building. As Zilla Panchayat office will also be shifted to Manipal End Point, the CMC is planning to utilise the building.
“We had to search for government offices in Udupi town. With the DC Office complex, the public need not search for the office. It will benefit the citizens,” said Ganesh of Brahmagiri.
“In fact, tourists were visiting Manipal End Point so far. Now along with the tourists, even the citizens will visit End Point, to get their work done at the government offices,” he added.
