Mumbai: New Konkani Drama "Estel Konachi Vhokal" to be staged in Borivli

Mumbai, 25 June 2011: The "Mahoorth" programme of a Konkani play "Estel Konachi Vhokal" written by Joseph DSouza Borivli and directed by Francis Olivera was held at the authors residence Borivli on 18th June 2011. Mr. George DSouza a well known Konkani Activist, ardent Konkani reader and the founder president of "Canara Konkani Association Borivli" inaugurated the script and said that "Konkani dramas arerarely seen in todays world. All theatre personalities need to be supported by the Konkani lovers."

 

This Konkani social drama written by Joseph DSouza Borivli is with little bit of comedy contains 10 scenes and 12 characters. The duration of the play is about 3 hours. Late Joker Cascia has composed lyrics and tunes. Francis Olivera Padukone who acted in Kannada/Hindi movies, a familiar face in Hindi T.V. serials will direct the play. The drama contains four songs which are already recorded. Ivan Sequeira, Charles D’Cunha, Lancy Almeida and Florine Mathias have sung the songs.

 

Gregory Sequiera Niddodi, Edwin Banz, Florine Mathias, Hilda D’Souza, Robert Noronha, Cyril Castelino, Vincent Castelino, Veronica Noronha and others will play the roles.

 

 

The first show of this drama will be held at Borivli during diwali vacations.

 

The programme started with a prayer from Leo Coutinho. The director Francis Olivera gave a welcome address. Tribute was given to the soul of Late Joker Cascia. The author Joseph DSouza gave vote of thanks. Finally a buffet dinner was served to all.
