Udupi, 14 June 2011: District-in-Charge Minister Dr V S Acharya said that Udupi Deputy Commissioner’s office will soon be the first office in the State to become the paperless office.
Addressing a press meet, he said paperless system will be implemented in Assistant Commissioner’s office and three taluk offices in a phased manner. The Udupi DC office complex will be inaugurated on August 19 by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa at Manipal End Point. Foundation stone will be laid for the Udupi circuit house on June 20. A sum of Rs 2.50 crore has been released for the Kundapur AC office and the work will commence at the earliest. The indoor stadium at Ajjarakadu has been renovated at the cost of Rs 2.55 crore and will be inaugurated soon.
Dr Acharya said Swarna 2nd stage drinking water programme enabled 24 hours water supply in Udupi taluk. Similarly in Kundapur, water from Varahi River was used to provide water in the taluk. Multi Village water scheme to provide drinking water in rural areas have been undertaken at the cost of Rs 25 crore.
Police stations
Dr Acharya said rural police stations are built at Amasebailu, Kollur and Ajakaru areas under Naxal special package programme. As many as 20 ASPs have been recruited in the district besides five emergency police units “Hoysala” have been sanctioned to the district along with three interceptors for vigilance, he added.
Community health centres at Byndoor and Kota are being built at the cost of Rs 3.29 crore.
Tourism
Dr Acharya said Rs two crore has been sanctioned to develop “Pajaka Kshetra” under new tourism initiatives taken up by the government. The work on III phase of Malpe harbour has been started. Koderi jetti has been renovated at the cost of Rs 30 crore. Development works have been taken up in Marvanthe at the cost of Rs 76.80 lakhs, he added.
Janaspandana
As many as 6,122 applications were received in “Janaspandana” programme, of which about 4,013 have been disposed.
As many as 11,109 Bhaghyalaxmi bonds have been distributed to the eligible beneficiaries. About 38,466 beneficiaries were offered the benefits under Sandhya Suraksha Yojane, he added.
