Udupi/M’Belle, 10 Mar: Forty Five SSLC students of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School, Moodubelle were given a warm send off on Tuesday, 10 March 2020 at 11 am in St. Lawrence PU College Hall. The send off programme was presided over by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions. Philip D’Souza, the past student of the institution who secured the first rank in the SSLC examination held in 1969 was the chief guest. Other dignitaries on the dais included Gerald Fernandes-President of PTA, Maxim D’Sa, President of Old Students Association, Devaraya Shanbhog, Principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Mrs. Sunitha Kamath, Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School and Vaishnavi, SPL.
Mrs. Sunitha Kamath along with the students of ninth standard conducted very meaningful prayer service in which the students prayed for the success of their fellow SSLC students in the forthcoming public examination. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas summed up the prayers service wishing the students good health and good mind so that they can face the forthcoming examination with good preparation and determination.
Following the welcome address by John Castelino, Shravya of ninth standard and Anwith of eighth standard expressed their sentiments towards their senior students of tenth standard and wished them well in the examinations.
On behalf of the teachers, Mathematics teacher Stany Menezes advised the SSLC students to face the examination boldly and achieve success. He said that in spite of being busy in the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of the school, teachers did their best to see to it that the tenth standard students did not miss their classes. As the teachers had done their best in teaching them, he hoped that the students would bring laurels to the school by securing cent percent results.
A group of tenth standard students through their song in Kannada and English conveyed their sentiments about the school and teachers.
Four students of the tenth standard-Vaishnavi, Dilip, Amruta and Meghna expressed their experience for three years in the school. They showered their praise and appreciation of all the teachers by mentioning their names individually and high lighting their qualities as teachers and human beings.
On this occasion, sponsors of eighth standard students in terms of uniforms, books, calendars, identity cards, fees and honorarium of the office staff were felicitated. A number of sponsors and donors could not attend the programme due to unavoidable circumstances.
The chief guest of the function, Philip D’Souza was honoured by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas.
Speaking to the students, Philip D’Souza narrated the circumstances that catapulted him as the first rank holder in the Karnataka State in 1969 in the SSLC examination. He said that he had a dream which he fulfilled with hard work and blessings of St. Lawrence. Fifty one years have passed since he achieved the first rank in the state and advised the students to dream high and work to achieve those dreams. Philip D’Souza also advised the parents to respect the goals that their children set for themselves and support them morally and if possible financially. Through his inspiring message, Philip D’Souza attempted to motivate the students and to face their forthcoming examination with high hope and determination.
Students who had secured first position in the Diocesan level Catechism and Moral Science examinations were awarded certificates on this occasion.

In his message, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas complimented Mrs. Sunitha Kamath and the staff members in organizing such a meaningful prayer service and send off function for the SSLC students. He wished all the students success in their examination.
Herald D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Sudhir Naik compeered the programme.
