Udupi/M’Belle, 26 Jan: Lions District 317C Governor Ln. V.G. Shetty paid official visit to Lions Club, Moodubelle on Saturday, 25 January 2020 at 7 pm. On his arrival Ln. V.G. Shetty and his wife Ln. Vilasini Shetty were received at the junction by Ln. Denis Martis, President of Lions Club, Moodubelle, Secretary Ln. Elias D’Souzaa and other members.
After conducting the Board of Directors’ Meeting (BOD) the stage programme was conducted from 7.30 pm. Along with Ln. V.G. Shetty and Ln. Vilasini Shetty other dignitarties on the dais included Ln. Denis Martis who presided over the programme, Ln. Elias D’Souza, Ln. George Samuel-Cabinet Secretary, Ln. Gerald Fernandes-Region Chairman, Ln. Wilfred D’Souza-Past District Governor(PDG), Ln. Ramesh Shettty-Zone Chairman, Ln. Elias Lobo-Zone Secretary and Fr. Charles Furtado-Rector of Assisi Nilaya.
Following the welcome address by Ln. Denis Martis, Ln. Elias D’Souza presented the report of the various activities conducted by the Lions Club of Moodubelle.
As part of the Charter Nite, dignitaries on the dais along with the Charter Membeers-Commodore Jerome Castelino, Ln. Devdas Hebbar, Ln. Elias Lobo and Ln. Cyril D’Souza garlanded the Charter. Ln. V.G. Shetty honoured the Charter Members by presenting them flowers.
Mrs. Sunitha Kamath-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School was felicitated for taking up the leadership of Diamond Jubilee celebration of the school and completing the programme with great success.
Financial assistance was provided to four individuals to meet their medical expenses. Five needy families were supplied with 20 Kg rice each as part of the service activity by the Lions Club of Moodubelle.
Addressing the gathering, Ln. V.G. Shetty appreciated the various activities of the Lions Club of Moodubelle. Quoting Melwyn Jones, founder of the Lions Clubs International, Ln. V.G. Shetty said, “One cannot travel long without doing something good to others”. The Governor narrated the various humanitarian activities that have conducted by the Lions Clubs International in various fields and countries. He made an appeal to the members of the Lions Club of Moodueblle to think in terms of adopting a permanent project for the benefit of the village community.
Governor V.G. Shetty presented letters off appreciation to members on completion of 15 and 10 years of service in the Lions Club. He also presented mementos to the office bearers.
Lions Club members who had donated to service activities were honoured by the Governor.
Ln. George Samuel, Ln. Wilfred D’Souza, Ln. Gerald Fernandes, Fr. Charles Furtado and Ln. Neri Cornelio in their felicitation messages appreciated the good work that has been done by the Lions Club of Moodubelle.
Ln. Elias D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Shallett D’Souza and Ln. Devdas Hebbar compeered the programme.
