Udupi/M’Belle: Annual Parish Feast Celebrated with Devotion and Fervor

Udupi/M’Belle, 08 Jan: The Annual Parish Feast in St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle was celebrated with great devotion and fervor on Wednesday, 8 January 2020 at 10.30 am. Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, former Assistant Parish Priest in Moodubelle and presently Assistant Parish Priest in the Holy Cross Church, Kulshekar, Mangalore was the chief celebrant.

 

Prior to the solemn feast mass, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Parish Priest of Mooddubelle distributed candles of honour to office bearers of the parish and mud-dhoms. Secretary of the Parish pastoral Council Mrs. Latha D’Mello read the names. 

 

The solemn feast mass commenced with the grand procession of priests and altar servers accompanied by the brass band.

 

In his homily, Fr. Lawrence Cutinha stressed on the theme of faith and prayer. By giving examples from the Old Testament, Fr. Lawrence pointed out how God blessed all those who reposed their strong faith in God. Fr. Lawrence further said that prayer is the strong foundation of faith. Families with prayer can build strong faith. St. Lawrence lived and practiced faith and attained the crown of martyrdom.

 

 

At the end of the solemn feast mass, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas conveyed the greetings of the annual feast to all parishioners and expressed gratitude to all those who have been serving the parish in different ways.

 

Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Dean of Udupi Deanery conveyed the greetings of the feast to Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Fr. Jithesh Castelino and all the parishioners. He complimented the parishioners for various projects undertaken in recent years. He also congratulated the parishioners for contributing to the Mission Sunday collection which was highest in the Uudpi Diocese.

 

Sponsors of various items of the annual parish feast were honoured by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas with decorated candles.
