Udupi/M’Belle, 17 Dec: The second Kannada literary conference of Kaup Taluk, Udupi District was inaugurated on 17 December 2019 at St. Lawrence Community Hall, Moodubelle.
The progrmmes prior to the inauguration of the literary conference commenced at 8.30 am with Mrs. Ranjani Hegde-President of Belle Grama Panchayat hoisting the national flag followed by B. Pundalika Marate-President of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Kaup unfurling the Parishad flag.
At 9 am the President of the Second Kannada Literary Conference-Kunjur Lakshminarayan Kundnthaya, senior journalist, expert on folklore and researcher was welcomed at the ‘Acharya Shri Madhwa mahadwara’ near the petrol pump which was inaugurated by Shri Vidya Vallabha Theertha Swamiji, head of the Kaniyur Matt and was taken in procession to the venue of the conference.
Harish Shetty, Vice President of Belle Grama Panchayat inaugurated the book exhibition and Commodore Jerome Castelino (VSM) retired Naval Officer inaugurated paintings exhibition.
The Second Kannada Literary Conference was officially inaugurated at St. Lawrence Community Hall at 10 am. The Conference President Kunjur Lakshminarayan Kundnthaya presided over the inaugural function. Lalaji R. Mendon-MLA of Kaup Constituency along with other dignitaries including Fr. Clement Mascarenhas-Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, Shri Vallabha Teertha Swamiji on the dais inaugurated the conference by lighting the lamp.
On this occasion the Souvenir of the First Kannada Literary Conference and some new books recently published were also released.
Muddhu Moodubelle, President of the First Kannada Literary Conference handed over the charge of the Second Literary Kannada Literary Conference to Kunju Lakshminarayan Kundanthaya.
Students of St. Lawrence English Medium High School presented the prayer dance, Students of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School presented Farmers’ Song and Yakshangana Naalkubeedhi presented Yaksha Vandana.
Devdas Hebbar, the Executive President of the Organizing Committee of the Second Kaup Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana welcomed the gathering and Larsen Edward D’Souza compeered the inaugural programme.
The chief sections of the Second Kannda Sahitya Sammelana of Kaup Taluk include ‘Belle-Kattingeri Historical and Cultural Traditions’; Poetry Session and session for students titled ‘The Book I Read’.
Besides these sessions there would be entertainment programmes presented by the students of Shri Naryayana Guru Kannada Medium High School, Pamboor, Jnanganga PU College, Nellikatte, Shri Ananda Theertha Vidyalaya, Pajaka, Kunjaru and Hindu Higher Primary School, Shirva.
The valedictory function will be held at 5 pm.
After the valedictory function Umesh Mijar group will present “Telikeda Gonchil” and entertainment evening in Tulu language.
