Shirva, 17 February 2010: The Catholic Women’s Council (CWC)of the Shirva Deanery organised a camp on the Role of Mothers in Bringing up Children in Don Bosco Hall on Sunday, 14th February 2010 at 2.30 pm. The camp was organised under the guidance of Mr. Alban Rodrigues, animator of family Life Centre at Mangalore.
Mrs. Maria Jacinta Mathias, president of the catholic Women’s Council of the Shirva Deanery welcomed the participants and resource persons to the camp. The office bearers of the Belman unit invoked prayer. The camp was officially inaugurated by the CWC Spiritual Director of the Shirva Deanery, Rev. Fr. Richard Coelho, guest speaker, Mr. Alban Rodrigues and Mother Superior of the Nativity Convent, Sr. Hilda Menezes by lighting the candles. They were also joined by the president of the CWC, Mrs. Maria Jacinta Mathias and the joint secretary of CWC Mrs. Neeta Castelino on the dais.
In his inaugural address, Rev. Fr. Richard Coelho said that the Catholic Women’s Council can be strengthened in the Shirva Deanery by holding such camps which are relevant in modern times which would give true meaning to the Catholic families. Such camps would help in imbibing among the children with Christian principles and inculcate ethical and moral values.
Mrs. Shanti D’Souza of the Belman Unit of CWC acted as the coordinator of the camp. Mrs. Leena also from the Belman Unit spoke about her experience in the camp. There were various competitions at the camp. Mrs. Irene Mendonca from the Pernal Unit of the CWC proposed the vote of thanks. Before the end of the camp it was decided to hold the next CWC camp of the Shirva Deanery on 14th march 2010.
