Belman: Books distributed by St. Joseph School Old Students Association

Belman, 02 June 2011: St. Joseph Higher Primary School Old Students Association distributed free books to the 600 students of Primary and High School, costing about Rs. 1.10 laks on the occasion of School reopening day function. The School reopening function was inaugurated by Asst. Parish Priest of the Church Rev. Fr. Ronald Pinto with lighting of lamp. He said that with good intentions and mind the education quality will develop. Distributing of free books by the old students show their affection towards the school, he said.

 

Xavier D’mello – President of Old Students Association and Member of Karkala Taluk Panchayath spoke and said that the Old Students Association has been contributing to the School in its own way. This year we have given the books worth more than one lakh. We also intend to give uniforms to the poor students. This school which has a history of more than 100 years, gives free and quality education which can match any English Medium School, he said.

 

 

Education Department Nandalike Cluster Director Vasantha M. Spoke and said that this Education Society is one of the best in Karkala Taluk, by the achievements it has earned honours from the students and the public. On the dias Parish Pastoral Counsel Vice President Gregory Minezes, Belman Grama Panchayath Member Geetha Prabu, Prabhakar Shetty, Convent Superior Sr. Gracy, Old Student Association Office Bearers; Jesitha D’Souza, Sylvester D’mello, Ida Fernandes, Urban D’Souza and Old Students Association Secretary Janet D’mello were present.

 

On this occasion Vasanth M. -  Director of Nandalike - Mundkur Cluster Public Education Department, is felicitated for his great service by Rev. Fr. Ronald Pinto and Gregory Minezes. School Headmistress Sr. Monica welcomed the guests and the gathering. Teacher Vincent Pinto in his introductory speech gave information on the role of Parents in children’s education. Teacher Lilly D’Souza  read Bhagavadgeethe - Bible and performed all religion group prayers. Senior Teacher Sevrine Mendonsa compeered the program. Teacher B. Pundalika Marathe proposed vote of thanks. In the program parents and the public had participated in large numbers.
