Udupi, 28 May: The dream of a poor family to own a house was realised with the generous contribution of native and overseas donors. A terrace house with carpet area of 700 square feet was built at a cost of Rs 7.50 lac is ready for handing over to the beneficiary.
Rajeevi Shedty family was living in a dilapidated house with leaking roof that was covered with tarpaulin at Devaratota, in the limits of Katpady – Kote gram panchayat, near here for nearly 6 decades without electricity. The new house consist 2 bedrooms, hall, kitchen, toilets and tile flooring. Its named ‘Namma Mane.’
The local social activist and medical practitioner Dr U K Shetty, Vidyalata U Shetty, Bannanje, Vaishali Shetty Udupi, Ashok Shetty Moodabettu and Bunts Sangh – Qatar and Sultanate of Oman pooled their resources in donating Namma Mane. Over 50 donors supported this cause with financial support, supplying timber, electrical items, building material etc.
The house warming of Namma Mane is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, May 29 at 12.00pm in the presence of Swami Esha Vittaladas of Sandipani Sadhanashram, Kemar and donors.
