Nottingham/UK, 30 Apr: Mangalorean United Konkani Association’s (MUKA) convened their sixteenth annual general body meeting at Bramcote Memorial Hall, Nottingham, UK after Easter event on Sunday, April 21.
The programme was started with a prayer led by Fr Charles Menezes followed by welcome address by John Peter Fernandes.
MUKA secretary Shalini Pinto presented the annual report for the term 2017-2019 with details of the activities conducted during these two-years. Treasurer Naveen Lobo presented the financial report.
The election for the new committee was conducted by John Peter Fernandes. He informed that the Association which was started in January 2006 with an objective of bringing all MUKA members together under one roof and support the needy and poor with financial and medical aid has been successful in fulfilling its objective with the help of sponsors, donors and well-wishers. He also called on the newly-elected office-bearers to carry on the good work of uniting the Mangalorean community of Nottingham.
Anson Dias was unanimously elected as the president of Mangalorean United Konkani Association for the term 2019-2021.
Anitha Sequeira (vice president), Jeevan Menezes (secretary), Naveen Lobo (treasurer), Sunitha D’Souza (communication co-ordinator), Deepak Alvares (liturgical secretary), John Peter Fernandes (cultural secretary), Pius Rasquinha, Roopa D’Souza, Herald D’Souza and Julian Noronha (core committee members).
Pius Rasquinha, the outgoing-president thanked all the committee members and MUKA members for supporting him fully in organizing all the programmes successfully during his tenure. Then Anson Dias thanked Pius Rasquinha for leading the association successfully. He asked the support of the new committee and members, and promised that he would strive to bring the Mangalorean community together to promote the talents and the activities of the coming years.
A discussion was held with regard to organizing the programmes for the current year and it was decided to hold annual summer day out event on Saturday, July 6, 2019.
The meeting was concluded with a thanksgiving hymn.
