Fr Franklin DSouza will be New ICYM National Youth Director

New Delhi, 25 May 2011: FR. FRANKLIN PHILIP D’SOUZA a well-known and well-appreciated Catholic charismatic preacher is appointed as a new secretary for CBCI Commission for Youth and a new National director of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM). The president of CBCI Commission for Youth Bishop Leo Cornelio, svd announced this today at New Delhi on the feast day of Mary Help of Christians. Fr. Franklin will take up this responsibility on the independence day i.e. on 15-Aug-2011 informed Fr. Alwyn D’Souza the present secretary of CBCI Commission for youth.

 

Born on 22nd October 1973 Fr. Franklin hails from a small village called "Murkoth Palke" in Saverapura, Belvai which belongs to St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Paladka. I know Fr. Franklin very well from his childhood as he was my nighbour and we both grew up together. He is a fourth proud son of Mrs Lilly D’Souza  and late Ligory D’Souza. He was ordained as a priest for the Diocese of Shimoga on 10th May 1999 by Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, the then Bishop of Belgaum. He obtained his B.A. degree from the Bangalore University.  Master of Arts (M.A. in History) form Mysore University. Bachelor of Philosophy (B.Ph.) and Master of Theology (M.Th.) in biblical theology from St. Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Bangalore. From 1999 to 2005, he served the diocese at various capacities. But at the same time he was the staff member of St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, Bangalore. In 2005 he was appointed as a Youth Director for Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) and also for Young Christian Students (YCS) and Young Student Movement (YSM) as well as Charismatic Retreat Director of Shimoga Diocese. In the same year the Bangalore Archbishop Bernard  Moras appointed him as a joint secretary of the Youth Commission of Karnataka Region. From 2008 he is serving as a Karnataka Regional Youth Director of ICYM and the Youth Commission. He also renders his service for the prisoners of Central Jail, Bangalore. He is the member of PMI (Prison Ministry of India).

 

Fr. Franklin is known for his retreats in Konkani, English and Kannada. He is the founder and director of "Jesus Touch" (YESU SPARSHA) team, where he and Brother T.K. George work together.  He preaches at "Divine Retreat Centre", Chalakudy, Kerala, "Renewal Retreat Centre (RRC)",  Bangalore, "Logos Retreat Centre", Bangalore and Tabore Retreat Centre, Kalyan - Mumbai, Divine Centre Mulky and in various other retreat centres. He has preached more than 750 retreats in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Nagaland, New Delhi, Israel, Cyprus, Shri Lanka and most of the Gulf Countries.

 

He has brought out several devotional audio and video albums in  Konkani,Kannada and English languages. He is also an author of several books.
